A clean, clutter-free home is a happier one. Are you having trouble letting go of clutter in your place? Here are five tips that can help!
Start with flat surfaces
Clear off all your countertops and tabletops and put them into piles to organize, get rid of, or move. You’ll be amazed at how less cluttered your home looks when these surfaces are cleared!
Give something away every day
Australian blogger Colleen Madsen started a blog called “365 Less Things“. She detailed her daily decluttering process for one year and it was quite the transformation!
Put things in the rooms they belong in
Tools in the kitchen. Toys in the living room. Toiletries in the garage. Get items in the places where they belong. Create piles or use baskets to organize items that belong in other rooms. Then start re-distributing! This is also a good time to sort through the items and give away what you don’t need nor want.
Set aside 5 minutes a day
If you feel overwhelmed by your clutter, take baby steps. Set aside 5 minutes every day to organize, throw away, or move items in your house. You’ll gradually notice a difference and you won’t feel overwhelmed, either.
Let go of broken, outdated, or unable items
Are you still holding onto that iPod from the early 2000’s? When was the last time you used it? Does it even work? Once you’ve answered these questions about that item or any other item lying around, you can determine if it’s serving any purpose. If it’s not, let it go!
